What’s a better way to raise funds? The community way!

Are you a group of organizations with a common goal looking to raise funds conveniently? Do you know that M-Changa provides you the option of raising funds as a community? Here are the details you need to know before starting your community fundraiser;

Communities start with someone who has experience managing a fundraiser on the M-Changa platform. This person becomes the Community Coordinator and their role is to invite and manage existing or new fundraisers together as a Community.

The Community Page is a public page providing information about the community and the individual fundraisers that make up the community. Donors may choose to donate to individual fundraisers in the Community or to donate to the Community Pot.

The Community Pot is a mechanism that allows the community coordinator to accept funds to support the Community as a whole and distribute the funds to the fundraisers in the community based on various community rules. For example, a community fundraiser may decide to re-distribute excess funds raised in one Fundraiser that has met their goals to another Fundraiser that is struggling to meet their goals.

Changa Glow is a tool available to community coordinators allowing them to automate the distribution of funds from the community pot based on various community rules. For example, a Coordinator may choose to reward a fundraiser with a specific amount (match funds) from the community pot IF randomly selected donors in that fundraiser manage to invite 3 additional donors to contribute.

Now that you are up to speed with the key features of a community fundraiser lets get into some of the additional benefits of being part of a community fundraiser. They include;

  • Enhanced Visibility: The community page will give community fundraisers exposure to donors interested in that particular community and the causes they are raising for
  • Community Reporting: All community fundraisers can track the progress of other community fundraisers
  • Communication: Community fundraisers can exchange ideas and advice on the best fundraising practices which have worked for them

You are now ready to sign up your fundraiser and join a community. To sign up you will need the following;

  • Have an existing fundraiser ( if not, you can set one up here)
  • Have a name for your community
  • Have at least 3 fundraisers that could be part of your community

To join or to invite a fundraiser to your community you will need to;

  • Have an existing fundraiser ( if not, you can set one up here)
  • Have identified the name of the community you would like to join
  • Be approved by the community coordinator
