Common Fundraising Mistakes

Because online fundraising is a relatively new concept in Kenya, we often find ourselves making mistakes as we go through the fundraising process. To help you navigate online fundraising with minimal to zero errors, here are some of the commonly made mistakes you can avoid while raising funds on M-Changa;

  • Not setting targets

The best way to ensure the success of your campaign is by setting targets. Targets are useful in helping you track and measure the progress of your fundraiser. For instance, if you hit a monthly target, your fundraiser will be successful during that month and that will motivate to put more effort in the subsequent months.

To ensure the success of your fundraiser, always remember to set your targets!

  • Account verification

Why is verification necessary? Verification is essential  in letting your contributors know that your fundraiser is credible. As you share your fundraiser, your potential contributors can see whether your fundraiser is verified or not. A non-verified fundraiser can push away a potential contributor. From general observation also, verified fundraisers tend to pick contributions faster compared to non-verified ones.

How do you verify your account? Make sure you upload your supporting documents and add your treasurers as soon as you open your fundraiser campaign.

  • Withdrawal

If you were wondering why you need to verify your fundraiser, here is the second reason why. With M-Changa, withdrawal of funds cannot be initiated if your fundraiser is not verified. To ensure a flawless withdrawal process, make sure your fundraiser is verified as soon as is possible!

  • Not sharing your fundraiser

Actively sharing your fundraiser is one of the most critical factors in its success. To reach your fundraising goal, you will need to share your fundraiser page and pay bill number as often as you can.

Never stop sharing and always start with the people closest to you!

  • Not reading the Terms and Conditions(T&C’s)

Similar to how we sign contracts before renting a house, reading the M-Changa T&C’s before signing up is mandatory. It, however, happens that most people do not read the T&C’s before signing up. To avoid starting your fundraiser before familiarizing with the conditions of the platform, always read the Term and Conditions.

Now that you know what to avoid, you can now register your fundraiser. Use this link to sign up!
