“We need to push this so baby comes home NOW! PS, today is a dedication to baby Jabali on BB. Musichoke please. I know for sure, with God, all is possible. You and me are God’s vessel. Let’s sail this ship to the shore! ”

Ever seen/met a baby that steals hearts? If not I’ll tell you about one. Our baby Jabali. Baby Jabali was born on May 10th, 2019 at 25 weeks. While this is considered quite early the overwhelming love and support from his mum, Damaris, helped him fight on. During this period he braced chronic prematurity, severe pneumonia and a blood infection. While in admission at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Matter Hospital Kenyans developed a big love for baby Jabali.

This love was shown partly through giving. People from far and wide came together to support his parents offset the huge hospital bill as he spent seven months in hospital. Kenyans walked with him through his stable and unstable days. Last week however our baby Jabali went to be with the Lord.

As his parents mourn the demise of their little angel they are further burdened by the outstanding hospital bill of 16 million shillings that is preventing them from taking their baby home for burial. Even during this loss Kenyans have come together to keep sharing love for Jabali. Over the last five days they have offered overwhelming support to Jabali’s family by pushing the hashtag #99ForBabyJabali.

The hashtag pushes for the donation of 99 shillings to Baby Jabali Medical Bill account at ZERO transaction fees. The hashtag has helped give foreigners, locals, organisations and celebrities a common voice as they tell the story of love for Jabali. “Good people as Baby Jabali is dancing with the angles and looking upon us we would like to remember his mother, Damaris Makimei, in this hard time. Let us remember to encourage and pray for her. They have a bill of Ksh.16Million at Aghakan Hospital which needs to be settled in order to give Baby Jabali a proper send off. Let us assure Damaris that nothing is impossible with God. Let us look at it in this manner:  if 162,000 Kenyans  contribute Ksh.99 we have Ksh. 16,000,000 *no transaction charges* So kindly let join hands and beat this 16m for baby Jabali #99forbabyjabali” – DJ Slim D on Facebook.
